He also grows vegetables and maintains a few fruit trees. This is important to him, on the one hand to have a diversity and on the other hand to more or less self-cater his family. Admittedly, to maintain a farm means a lot of work and therefore his children are willing to help him. For example, his son Shone, returning from school, is checking their vegetable patches to check how far the tomatoes are. At this stage the tomatoes seem to grow exactly right and it looks like that the family will have some great tasting tomatoes soon.
But let’s go back to the cashews: On one picture there is high grass and weeds below the cashew trees. To be prepared for the harvesting Francis and his family have to clear the ground as shown on the other picture. This makes it easier to collect the cashew fruits once the apples are ripe and starting to fall.
