About the product
Our organic mangoes are grown by small farmers in the Colombian Andes, harvested by hand when fully ripe, gently dried and coated in dark Fairtrade chocolate. Deliciously fruity and sweet in taste. 100% natural, vegan and free from additives.
Our chocolate-coated organic mangoes combine fruity freshness with high-quality chocolate. The base consists of dried mango pieces with an unmistakable tropical-fruity taste. Coated in smooth organic chocolate with 60% cocoa content, they create a delicious combination of fruity and tart sweetness with a subtle acidity. Thanks to the high cocoa content and the natural fruit flavour of the mango, these dragées are not only a taste sensation, but also a good alternative to conventional sweets. Less sweet, but all the more aromatic.
Our chocolate mangoes are perfect as an energy-boosting snack between meals, as a topping on muesli and granola, or as a sweet accompaniment to espresso.
Mango: The organic mangoes are grown by small farmers in the department of Cundinamarca around Alto Magdalena at altitudes of up to 1,000 metres above sea level. The cooperative consists of 35 families who together cultivate 71.5 hectares organically.
Drying: After harvesting, the organic mangoes are carefully washed, processed and gently dried without any additives by our Colombian partner Fruandes.
Chocolate coating: After drying, the fruit is sent to Equiori, Colombia's first organic chocolate manufacturer. Here, the dried fruit is coated in dark organic chocolate made from 60% Fairtrade cocoa. Equiori sources its cocoa beans from three smallholder cooperatives with 150 affiliated farming families from various regions of the Colombian Andes. After chocolate coating, the finished organic Fairtrade chocolate-covered fruits are packaged directly on site.
About Fruandes: Pakka is a long-standing partner of Fruandes – Frutos de los Andes – a socially committed Colombian producer of organic dried fruit based in Ibagué, west of Bogotá. The company's goal is to produce high-quality, healthy organic products locally and to share the added value fairly between producers, processors and consumers. In recent years, with Pakka's help, Fruandes has been able to build a new processing plant, modernise its packaging line and expand its warehouse. This has enabled the company to grow and create valuable jobs in a rural region.
About Equiori: Pakka is a founding partner of Equiori, Colombia's first socially committed organic chocolate manufacturer based in Bogotá. The company's goal is to produce high-quality, healthy organic chocolate locally and to share the added value fairly between producers, processors and consumers.
The chocolate mangoes are produced entirely in Colombia – directly in the country of origin of the raw materials. Pakka deliberately focuses on direct trade and avoids intermediaries. Close cooperation with partners Fruandes and Equiori, as well as smallholder cooperatives, strengthens the entire value chain locally. This not only ensures the best product quality, but also creates fair jobs in structurally weak regions of Colombia and contributes to sustainable economic development.
