About the product
The organic pineapples come from smallholder families in the Colombian Andes. They are organically grown in Cacau in south-western Colombia, harvested by hand when fully ripe and gently dried on site. The fruits are 100% natural, unsweetened, unsulphured and processed without additives. As production takes place entirely in Colombia, the entire value chain remains in the country of origin – from cultivation and processing to packaging.
Dried pineapple is characterised by a pleasant balance of fruity sweetness and refreshing acidity. Its consistency is soft to slightly chewy. Chewing thoroughly allows the unique tropical sweet aroma to develop fully.
Dried pineapple is rich in fibre, which aids digestion and keeps you feeling full for longer. It contains vitamin C, which supports the immune system and has antioxidant properties. Potassium contributes to normal muscle and nerve function, while manganese plays a role in energy metabolism. Pineapple also provides the enzyme bromelain, which is known for its digestive properties. When consumed in moderate amounts, it is a valuable part of a balanced diet.
The dried pineapple pieces are ideal as a snack on their own, in muesli, in bowls or for homemade energy bars, e.g. in combination with nuts and dark chocolate.
The organic pineapples are grown by small farmers in Cacau in south-western Colombia. The cooperative consists of 24 members and supports 48 families who together cultivate 38.9 hectares organically. After harvesting, the fruit is washed, peeled, cut into strips and gently dried without any additives at our partner Fruandes in Ibagué. It is then sorted and packaged directly on site. Processing immediately after harvesting preserves the aroma, texture and nutrients.

The company's goal is to produce high-quality, healthy organic products locally and to share the added value fairly between producers, processors and consumers. In recent years, with Pakka's help, Fruandes has been able to build a new processing plant, modernise its packaging line and expand its warehouse. This has enabled the company to grow and create valuable jobs in a rural region.
The dried pineapples are produced entirely in Colombia – directly in the country of origin of the raw materials. Pakka deliberately focuses on direct trade and does not use intermediaries. This strengthens the entire value chain locally. Not only does this ensure the best product quality, it also creates fair jobs in structurally weak regions of Colombia and contributes to sustainable economic development.
