About the product
Our fruity and aromatic organic pineapples thrive in the fertile Tarma Valley in central Peru. Excellent climatic conditions, contrasting temperatures and high solar intensity ensure an exceptionally intense aroma. The fruits are harvested when fully ripe and gently dried. Thanks to the fact that production takes place entirely in Peru, the entire value chain remains in the country of origin – from cultivation and processing to packaging.
Dried pineapple is characterised by a pleasant balance of fruity sweetness and refreshing acidity. Its consistency is soft to slightly chewy. Chewing thoroughly allows the unique tropical sweet aroma to unfold.
Dried pineapple is rich in fibre, which aids digestion and keeps you feeling full for longer. It contains vitamin C, which supports the immune system and has antioxidant properties. Potassium contributes to normal muscle and nerve function, while manganese plays a role in energy metabolism. Pineapple also provides the enzyme bromelain, which is known for its digestive properties. When consumed in moderate amounts, it is a valuable part of a balanced diet.
The dried pineapple pieces are ideal as a snack on the go, as a fruity addition to muesli and bowls, or for homemade energy bars, e.g. in combination with nuts and dark chocolate.
Our Peruvian partner and dried fruit producer Greenbox works with around 250 farmers in the Peruvian Amazon region and the central highlands. The company's goal is to grow and process high-quality organic fruit locally and guarantee fair prices. This means that the entire value chain remains in the country of origin – from cultivation and drying to packaging.
The company was founded in 2011 in the fertile Tarma Valley. Tarma is located in central Peru between the icy peaks of the Andes and the steamy, humid Amazon lowlands. The valleys around Tarma are extremely fertile, and the geographical and microclimatic conditions, with high solar intensity, are ideal for growing tropical fruits.
The farmers cultivate their crops according to ecological principles and receive training and technical support from Greenbox to ensure sustainable yields and stable incomes. Women make up 65% of the factory's workforce.
Nothing is wasted during processing: the organic residues from fruit processing are turned into compost and reused on the fields. In this way, Greenbox closes the loop and actively contributes to soil fertility and a functioning circular economy.
The dried pineapples are produced entirely in Peru – directly in the country of origin of the raw materials. Pakka deliberately focuses on direct trade and does not use intermediaries. This strengthens the entire value chain locally. Not only does this ensure the best product quality, it also creates fair jobs in structurally weak regions of Peru and contributes to sustainable economic development.
