About the product
Our wild organic Fairtrade almonds come from the Samarkand region in Uzbekistan. They grow without cultivation on wild almond trees, are harvested by hand by small farming families, carefully cracked, sorted, roasted and coated in raw cane sugar. The result is a sweet and crunchy snack with a natural character - without any additives.
The almonds come from old, small-seeded varieties and impress with their delicate roasted aromas and the finely balanced sweetness of the raw cane sugar. Crispy in texture, with a pleasant almondy taste - a handmade rarity.
Almonds are a valuable source of vegetable protein, fiber, healthy unsaturated fatty acids, vitamin E and minerals such as magnesium and phosphorus. They support a normal cholesterol level and protect the cells from oxidative stress. Eaten in moderation, these sugared almonds are part of a balanced diet.
Ideal as a sweet snack between meals, with coffee or as a topping on muesli, bowls or desserts.
The wild almonds grow around Samarkand and are collected by hand by small farmers. They are processed by Silk Road Organik Foods, the first Fairtrade-certified processor in Central Asia. All steps - from cracking, peeling and roasting to coating with raw cane sugar - take place entirely in Uzbekistan.
Silk Road Organik Foods works with two small farmers' cooperatives that support around 1,000 families along the old Silk Road. This close cooperation results in high-quality products, fair working conditions and sustainable development opportunities in structurally weak regions.
The organic sugared almonds are produced from A to Z in Uzbekistan - directly in the country of origin of the raw material. Pakka deliberately relies on direct trade without middlemen. In addition to paying the Fairtrade premium, the harvests of the small farmers are pre-financed. This strengthens the entire local value chain and ensures fair incomes, high-quality products and sustainable local economic growth.
