About the product
This high-quality trail mix is full of flavour: uncoated sultanas, roasted peanuts and crunchy cashews. 100% natural, a real power snack! Produced by small farmers in Uzbekistan and Burkina Faso.
The mix of roasted peanuts, crunchy cashews and sun-dried sultanas impresses with its texture and aroma. The peanuts develop a nutty roasted aroma thanks to gentle roasting, while the cashews create a fine balance with their mild, creamy taste. The uncoated sultanas add a natural, fruity sweetness.
This natural nut and fruit mix provides valuable nutrients in their original form:
Cashew nuts and peanuts are rich in plant protein, unsaturated healthy fatty acids, vitamin E, magnesium and phosphorus. Sultanas provide fibre and potassium, aid digestion and protect cells from oxidative stress. Together, they make an energy-rich snack that supports a balanced diet.
Ideal as a healthy snack between meals – for school, work or sport.
The ingredients for Pakka trail mix come from two Fairtrade-certified value chains in Burkina Faso and Uzbekistan.
Cashew nuts from Burkina Faso: Around 2,000 smallholder families grow their cashew trees organically in the region around Bobo Dioulasso. After harvesting, the nuts are processed entirely on site – steamed, cracked by hand, dried and skinned. This local processing by gebana Burkina Faso creates jobs, strengthens the regional economy and ensures fair incomes.
Peanuts and sultanas from Uzbekistan: The peanuts come from the Urgut region, the sultanas from the area around Samarkand. Both are cultivated by smallholder families and processed entirely in their country of origin by Silk Road Organik Foods – Central Asia's first Fairtrade-certified processor. The regions are located in an arid desert state where water is a central and scarce resource. Irrigation is targeted and economical, using rainwater and meltwater, which is efficiently utilised via traditional pit and dam systems. The fruits and nuts are sorted by hand and dried and packaged using energy-efficient methods.
Pakka favours fair, direct trade - without middlemen. Guaranteed minimum prices and the Fairtrade premium ensure stable incomes, promote sustainable cultivation methods and create prospects in structurally weak regions.
Cashews: By ship from Burkina Faso to Hamburg - by lorry to Switzerland.
