About the product
Enjoy our naturally sweet and fruity organic Fairtrade strawberry powder. The strawberries are carefully cultivated by Uzbek smallholders in the Samarkand region, harvested by hand, gently sun-dried and then ground into a high-quality whole-fruit powder. 100% flavour, unsweetened and with no additives. Rich in fibre. Ideal for smoothies and muesli.
Delicately fruity with an intense strawberry flavour – featuring a natural sweetness and a pleasantly tart note, just like ripe strawberries. The drying process makes the flavour more concentrated than in fresh fruit.
Strawberries are a natural source of fibre and phytochemicals (including polyphenols). As dried fruit, they also have a long shelf life and are convenient for on the go. During the drying process, heat-sensitive vitamins such as vitamin C may be partially lost; other nutrients are generally retained to a large extent. As with all dried fruit, the removal of water means that natural fruit sugars and calories are more concentrated than in fresh strawberries. A small portion is therefore a good addition to a balanced diet.
Strawberry powder is incredibly versatile – it can be used as a natural ingredient and also to add flavour and colour.
- Smoothies, shakes, muesli: stir in or blend 1–2 teaspoons per serving.
- Yoghurt, quark, porridge: fold in gently; combine with nuts or oats if desired.
- Baking & Desserts: For cakes, muffins, pancakes, waffles, crêpes or dessert creams. Also ideal for frostings, glazes and energy balls.
- Drinks: In milk (or milk alternatives), protein drinks, or in summer in water or mocktails – it’s best to mix in a little liquid first to form a smooth paste, then top up.
The strawberries are grown in the Samarkand region by Uzbek smallholders. They are members of a Fairtrade smallholder cooperative that supports around 300 families along the ancient Silk Road. The harvest takes place in early summer and involves labour-intensive manual work. After harvesting, the fruit is washed, cut, sun-dried and then ground into high-quality whole-fruit powder. The entire processing is carried out by our partner, Silk Road Organik Foods, near the city of Samarkand. The processing combines manual care with modern technology. Up to 80 employees – mostly women – sort the fruit by hand.
Our organic Fairtrade strawberry powder is produced from A to Z in Uzbekistan - directly in the country of origin of the raw materials. Pakka deliberately favours direct trade without middlemen. In addition to paying the Fairtrade premium, the harvests of the small farmers are pre-financed. This strengthens the entire local value chain and ensures fair incomes, high-quality products and sustainable local economic growth.
