Our organic Fairtrade apricot kernels come from wild-grown mountain apricots from the Samarkand region in Uzbekistan. Small farmers collect the fruit by hand, pit, dry and process them carefully. The seeds are cracked, blanched and peeled. The seeds are then gently roasted and refined with the best sea salt. The result: a deliciously crunchy nut flavour reminiscent of almonds - without any additives.
Our apricot kernels come from small-kernelled, aromatic varieties. Crunchy in consistency, with a pleasantly mild almond flavour, roasted aromas and a fine hint of salt - perfectly balanced.
In terms of nutritional value, apricot kernels are comparable to almonds and are just as valuable from a nutritional point of view. Our apricot kernels are a natural snack, rich in dietary fibre, vegetable protein and vitamin E. They support normal cholesterol levels and protect cells from oxidative stress.
Whether on their own as a snack, for an aperitif, as a topping on salads or in bowls - our roasted and salted apricot kernels are versatile and add an aromatic crunch to any dish.
The wild mountain apricots grow around Samarkand and are collected by hand by small farmers. Silk Road Organik Foods, our local partner and the first Fairtrade-certified company in Central Asia, takes care of all the processing: from cracking the seeds, blanching and debittering to refining with sea salt. Production takes place entirely in Uzbekistan - from the field to the finished product. In addition, the kernels are produced sustainably as a by-product of apricot processing and are not grown separately.
Silk Road Organik Foods works with two small farmers' cooperatives that support around 1000 families along the old Silk Road. This close cooperation results in high-quality products, fair working conditions and sustainable development opportunities in structurally weak regions.
Our organic apricot kernels are produced from A to Z in Uzbekistan - directly in the country of origin of the raw material. Pakka consciously favours direct trade without middlemen. In addition to paying the Fairtrade premium, the harvests of the small farmers are pre-financed. In this way, we strengthen the entire local value chain and ensure fair incomes, high-quality products and sustainable local economic growth.
