Sustainable farming and responsible business practices

For Greenbox, environmental and social responsibility go hand in hand. In organic farming, the soil, air and water are protected through environmentally friendly methods. Organic waste from processing is turned into compost and returned to the fields. This creates a cycle that strengthens local resources and reduces the environmental footprint.

Greenbox also takes responsibility for its own staff. The company promotes equality, pays fair wages and places great importance on continuous professional development. Of the 109 employees, 75% are women. There is a crèche on the premises for mothers, so that they can have their children looked after whilst they are at work.

A partnership that makes a difference

The partnership between Pakka and Greenbox is dedicated to organic dried fruit from Peru, produced under fair and transparent conditions. For farming families, this means more reliable sales opportunities, technical support and a greater role in the value chain. For Pakka, Greenbox is a partner that combines high-quality products with organic farming and social commitment.

Organic fruit from the Andes and the Amazon region

Greenbox was founded in 2011 in the Tarma Valley in the Junín region. The farm is situated at an altitude of around 3,000 metres above sea level in the Peruvian Andes, between the cool highlands of the mountains and the warm, humid Amazonian lowlands. Fertile valleys, strong sunshine and marked temperature differences create ideal conditions for tropical fruits such as mangoes, pineapples, bananas and physalis.

Greenbox works with small-scale farmers in the Peruvian Amazon and the central highlands. Many of these regions have limited infrastructure and restricted local markets. The company provides access to reliable markets, supports organic farming, and supports producers by offering training on better farming methods and more stable yields.

Fair prices and local economic benefits

Greenbox has been a partner of Pakka since 2022. The partnership combines organically grown dried fruit from Peru with fair, long-term trade practices. Greenbox purchases the fruit at fair prices and ensures that farming families are more closely integrated into the value chain. This provides producers with better market opportunities and greater planning security.

At the same time, Greenbox takes care to handle the fruit with the utmost care throughout the entire supply chain – from planting, through harvesting and processing, to packaging, storage and delivery. This ensures that the flavour, aroma and natural nutrients are preserved as much as possible.
